MFG Maintenance Technician

Location: Orlando, FL

Purpose of Role

The purpose of this role is to ensure the reliability and operation of machinery and auxiliary equipment in a plastic injection molding facility. The Maintenance Technician will complete preventive maintenance tasks according to schedule, and complete reactive troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime. This individual will work in a manner that keeps themselves and their team members safe, while finding opportunities to improve work processes.

Areas of Accountability

Facility Maintenance

  • Perform general building maintenance, including cleaning, plumbing repairs, and basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Support and maintain 5S standards to ensure a clean, organized, and efficient facility.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for repairs, refurbishments, and installations of building systems and equipment as needed.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Monitor and perform preventive maintenance on all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic equipment—including capital machinery such as injection molding and extrusion equipment, air compressors, HVAC systems, and fire suppression/alarm systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair extrusion, molding, and assembly equipment, including injection/transfer presses, material mixers, extruders, grinders, scales, testers, and assembly machinery.
  • Identify required parts and communicate inventory needs to maintain appropriate levels of critical spares.
  • Respond to equipment issues promptly, performing emergency repairs based on production priorities.
  • Provide timely updates on repair status to the Production Supervisor and Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Support engineering and operations by completing maintenance tasks related to process improvement, scrap reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist with installation of new or replacement equipment and participate in kaizen and lean manufacturing activities.
  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with SOPs, work instructions, and Rehrig values, with a strong commitment to safety.
  • Recommend improvements and support enhancements to the preventive maintenance program.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or technical coursework preferred, with emphasis on mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulics, or pneumatics.
  • Knowledge of injection molding processes is a plus.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic conveying equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of chilled water systems.
  • Ability to use a multimeter for electrical troubleshooting.
  • Proficient with power hand tools including drills, saws, and related equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and support team members on larger tasks.
  • General facility maintenance experience required.
  • Additional desired (not required) skills include: interpreting hydraulic schematics, welding, machining, and lean manufacturing experience.
