Reliability Manager

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking an experienced Reliability Manager to lead our maintenance and tooling teams in delivering safe, effective, and proactive support within a high-volume plastic injection molding facility. This leader will champion our CMMS (UpKeep), execute continuous improvement initiatives, reduce mean time between failures, and ensure adherence to national maintenance standards.

The Reliability Manager will play a central role in driving equipment uptime, supporting preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and developing a strong, technically capable maintenance organization.


Key Responsibilities

Preventive Maintenance & Reliability Execution

  • Maximize equipment availability while balancing technician skillsets, staffing, and cost.

  • Lead preventive and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and facility systems, including:

    • Injection Molding Machines

    • Molds, Extruders, Robots

    • Air Compressors, Vacuum Conveying Systems

    • Water Systems, HVAC, Fire Suppression & Alarm Systems

  • Utilize root cause analysis to eliminate repeat downtime and improve operational efficiency.

  • Champion national best practices and reliability initiatives.

  • Develop and manage monthly and annual budgets.

  • Recommend and support improvements to the preventive maintenance program.

  • Use CMMS to optimize workflow, prioritize work orders, and manage spare parts inventory.

  • Lead kaizen events and support facility upgrades to drive lean manufacturing improvements.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Conduct performance reviews, training, and skill-development programs for maintenance and tooling teams.

  • Mentor teams to think strategically about reliability, risk prevention, and long-term corrective actions.

  • Maintain appropriate spare parts inventory to minimize downtime.

  • Ensure all work aligns with safety standards, SOPs, work instructions, and company values.

  • Demonstrate strong safety leadership; proactively address safety issues with local and national teams.

  • Partner with Human Capital and Plant leadership to follow hiring and people-development best practices.

Facility & Contractor Oversight

  • Manage contractors performing equipment repairs, refurbishments, building work, or system installations.

  • Ensure compliance with Avetta requirements and internal safety protocols.

  • Oversee facility and building system repairs in alignment with company standards.


Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; 8+ years of technical or maintenance management experience required.

  • CMRP certification is a plus.

  • Strong ability to apply structured Root Cause Analysis problem-solving techniques.

  • Proven track record building processes and programs from the ground up.

  • Experience using UpKeep or similar CMMS platforms.

  • Hands-on mechanical and electrical tool knowledge (hand tools, torque tools, hydraulic tools, power tools, etc.).

  • Understanding of mechanical assemblies such as conveyors, sprockets, belts, gearboxes, and pumps.

  • Basic electrical knowledge (480V/220V, fuses, relays, contactors, motors).

  • Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
