Purpose of Role
The purpose of this role is to lead the production team in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, coordinating work between the production team and other departments (scheduling, quality, safety, maintenance, tooling, shipping) with a goal of delighting our customers by ensuring a timely, quality product all while developing the capabilities of the production team in line with our Vision, Mission and Values.
Areas of Accountabilities
Cross functional coordination
- Manage the planning and deployment of resources within the production team to efficiently meet customer expectations
- Serve as a liaison between the production planner and the shift managers, ensuring appropriate information is communicated to the production team, and that materials and resources are in place to support production needs.
- Ensure work schedules are coordinated and settle any disputes.
- Lead the daily coordination of mold changes, job startups, and communicate quality or equipment issues.
- Manage production department expenses and labor within budget.
Safety Leadership
- Ensure no new employee enters the production floor without first receiving the standard Day 1 MVP training.
- Ensure actions and initiatives within the production team are in alignment and in support of the plant safety program. Take immediate action to resolve safety concerns.
Human Centered Leadership
- Ensure all production staff receive quarterly reviews, detailed annual performance reviews and continuous value-added feedback.
- Lead by exemplifying our Core Values and being good stewards of company time and resources and coach others to do the same
- With Human Capital, help strengthen the programs and processes that support the growth and retention of our people.
Continuous Improvement and Facility Organization
- Utilize the Rehrig Accountable Management System tools to define, audit, and continuously improve production processes.
- Establish plant cleanliness and organization (5S) expectations and practices.
- Coordinate and assign tasks related to PPE inventory and usage, work cell layouts, and production equipment organization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- General Experience: At least 6 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
- Managerial Experience: At least 3 years of direct management experience preferred.
- Specific training and knowledge of injection molding process a plus.
- Excellent Leadership Skills including strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills a must.
