IT Operations Manager

Purpose of Role

IT Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing a team of network technicians and administrators providing guidance and support to resolve problems efficiently. Responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the network infrastructure, as well as managing network maintenance and upgrades. ideal candidate will provide thought leadership to improve the efficiency and resiliency of all IT operations goals.

 

Areas of Accountabilities

Develop the Network Operations team into a highly collaborative, forward-thinking team of technical experts:

  • Ensure that the team is conversant in relevant emerging and disruptive technologies, with a view to integrating new methods, processes, tools, or platforms into the Rehrig Pacific ecosystem to improve resiliency, efficiency and/or scalability.
  • Lead modernization efforts that create a focus on delivering capabilities that allow Rehrig Pacific to meet strategic business goals, including topics like adopting infrastructure-as-code, implementing systemic automation to reduce technical debt, improving, or creating workload portability, evolving the network into a zero trust, fully software-defined state.

Establish expectations and performance standards to consistently improve the efficiency and resiliency of IT operations by:

  • Recommending suitable technological infrastructure solutions and updates to engineering staff to develop long- and short-term planning.
  • Identify improvements to the IT architecture to ensure business sustainability.
  • Lead the execution of IT deployment and project plan to deliver the best solution on time and in accordance with the overall IT strategy and vision.
  • Lead efforts to “shift left” through consistent documentation and globalization of IT knowledge for other IT personnel and end users and a focus on delivering self-service capabilities to simplify the overall IT infrastructure process.

 

Provide Leadership and Oversight for the establishment of standards and procedures to ensure that the network and computing infrastructure at Rehrig Pacific are ready and able to scale to meet the demands of the business:

  • Manage the activities of all infrastructure engineering staff to ensure capacity plans are maintained and core services that support critical applications are available and healthy.  that disaster recovery and business continuity plans are established, tested, and maintained, and that the strategies and projects for each engineering functional area align with the broader IT vision and Rehrig Pacific business goals.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems or a related field or industry
  • Minimum of 5 years of network architect responsibilities in enterprise environments
  • In-depth knowledge of system development lifecycle and networking required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with virtualized server environments, IaaS/PaaS/SaaS products, and modern multi-site networks required.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and communication skills to develop strong partnerships with business leaders required.
  • Experience managing small teams of technical personnel required.
  • Experience using Project Management concepts and methodologies required.
  • Experience with Agile processes preferred.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time by plane.
