Purpose of Role

The Director of Procurement is responsible for overseeing an organization’s procurement & sourcing, freight & transportation and recycling materials activities. This individual will ensure the strategic acquisition of goods and services to meet organizational objectives efficiently and cost-effectively. The role involves a combination of strategic vision, operational expertise, and vendor relationship management to drive value and innovation across the supply chain.

Areas of Accountabilities

Strategic Procurement Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with organizational goals and business priorities. This strategy includes logistical operations, procurement and recycling materials sourcing.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize costs, improve quality, and ensure timely delivery of products and services.
  • Lead the transition to sustainable and ethical sourcing practices, ensuring compliance with corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Vendor Relationship Management

  • Establish and nurture partnerships with key vendors to foster collaboration and innovation.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and agreements to achieve the best value while maintaining quality and service standards.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure adherence to agreed-upon standards, resolving issues proactively.

Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee the procurement lifecycle, ensuring seamless coordination between purchasing, production, and logistics teams.
  • Implement best practices in procurement processes, leveraging technologies such as e-procurement platforms and data analytics.
  • Manage budgets effectively, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting of procurement expenditures.
  • Identify internal cost reduction opportunities and make recommendations to leverage our buying power to reduce organizational spend.

  • Build and lead a high-performing team ensuring alignment of individual and team efforts with organizational goals and ensuring joyful accountability.

  • Set clear objectives and performance goals for the team to ensure expectation clarity.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or sourcing.
  • Proven expertise in contract negotiation, supplier management, and strategic sourcing.
  • Experience managing large-volume resin spend and negotiating with major suppliers.
  • Familiarity with resin performance characteristics and material substitution options.
  • Experience in implementing digital tools and technologies to optimize procurement operations.
  • Ability to analyze data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process optimization.
  • Strong team management and motivational skills to drive performance and innovation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex and dynamic market conditions.
