MFG Maintenance Technician

Purpose of Role
The purpose of this role is to ensure the reliability and operation of machinery and auxiliary equipment in a plastic injection molding facility. The Maintenance Technician will complete preventive maintenance tasks according to schedule, and complete reactive troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime. This individual will work in a manner that keeps themselves and their team members safe, while finding opportunities to improve work processes.
Shift Hours:
Wednesday - Midnight to 6:30AM Thursday (6 Hours)
Thursday - 6PM to 6:30AM Friday (12 Hours)
Friday - 6PM to 6:30AM Saturday (12 Hours)
Saturday - 6PM to 6:30AM Sunday. (12 Hours)
Areas of Accountabilities
Facility Maintenance
- Complete building maintenance tasks such as cleaning, plumbing repairs, electrical troubleshooting, etc.
- Participate in 5S standardization projects and work to sustain cleanliness and organization standards in all areas of the facility.
- Work with outside contractors to repair, refurbish or install building systems and equipment on schedule as needed.
Equipment Maintenance
- Monitor and complete preventive maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and electronic equipment including capital equipment (injection molding machines, extrusion machines), air compressors, HVAC, fire suppression and alarm systems.
- Perform repairs and troubleshooting on extrusion, molding, and assembly equipment including but not limited to injection and transfer presses, material mixers, extruders, grinders, scales, testers and assemblers.
- Identify and communicate needed orders to ensure proper level of critical spare parts inventory.
- Respond, troubleshoot and perform emergency repair work on manufacturing equipment in a timely manner based on priority established by production management.
- Report status of repair jobs promptly to Production Supervisor and Maintenance Supervisor.
- Complete assigned maintenance tasks to support process improvement, scrap reduction, and other engineering-led activities.
Safety and Continuous Improvement
- Support install of new or replacement equipment, participate in kaizen events, and provide support to complete lean manufacturing efforts.
- Perform all responsibilities in alignment with established SOPs, work instructions and Rehrig values with a strong commitment to safety.
- Support and recommend improvement to the preventive maintenance program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Successful completion of high school, or equivalent
- Associate’s degree or credits from a technical college preferred, with focus in the areas of mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulics or pneumatic systems repair
- Knowledge of injection molding process a plus.
- Knowledge of pneumatic conveying equipment and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of chilled water systems.
- Ability to use multimeter for electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to use powered hand tools such as saws, drills, etc.
- Ability to handle assignment with little or no supervision, take initiative to learn new skills, and assist team members with larger tasks when needed.
- General facilities maintenance experience.
- Additional skills desired (not required): ability to read hydraulic schematics, welding, machine shop skills; lean manufacturing knowledge
