Benefits Analyst

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Purpose of Role

The Benefits Analyst will conduct benefit plan analyses to determine if they align to business objectives, family values, and are comprehensive and competitive. Specifically, the primary core job functions will be analytical reviews of costs and claims data. Additionally, the Analyst will monitor healthcare and retirement Federal/State regulations and internal controls to ensure compliance (Plan Document amendments, reporting requirements, member notifications, etc.). All job functions must be performed in a confidential manner and security controls must be utilized with forwarding sensitive information internally/externally as appropriate.

Areas of Accountability:

Analytical Support

  • Perform annual employer/employee cost-sharing analysis compared to market trends and synchronization with company’s budget.
  • Analyze quarterly healthcare claims paid against premiums paid to run cost projections.
  • Analyze quarterly healthcare claims experience for trends and to determine if further healthcare initiatives are needed.
  • Provide monthly accruals to Accounting for annual budget process.
  • Use Fidelity Retirement data and ADP data to calculate annual 401(k) true-ups and discretionary profit-sharing contributions.
  • Work closely with TR Management and Broker to conduct the annual benefits renewals. Review all analytical data and provide recommendations to continue offering a competitive cost-effective Total Rewards package.

Retirement Administration

  • Weekly review of 401k deductions and loans before submitting funds to third-party administrator.
  • Create weekly 401k remittance report for audit purposes.
  • Monthly monitoring of 401k data integrity.
  • Work with retirement administrators to build employee data files to be integrated into ADP to enhance Total Rewards Statement.
  • Ensure all retirement plans adhere to Federal and State legislative changes.
  • Communicate MetLife’s quarterly retirement planning sessions.
  • Review and submit annual ESOP distribution forms.
  • Outreach initiatives to former employees with uncashed retirement checks.

Benefit Administration

  • Process Tuition Reimbursements.
  • Open Enrollment support (renewal support, ADP updates, travel, etc.).
  • Other tasks and projects to align with company business strategic goals.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of benefits analytical experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to professionally communicate both verbally and written with employees, managers, and external business partners.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with Excel including using pivot tables.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of ADP WorkforceNow or equivalent HRIS.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Rehrig Pacific, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $75,000.00 to $90,000.00.
