Purpose of Role
The primary responsibility of the Shipping & Warehouse Manager is the oversight of all shipping and warehousing activities. This role must ensure that customer and product deliverables are known and defined, and internal processes and accountabilities are established that allow for these expectations to be consistently met by the team. The Shipping & Warehouse Manager must monitor the overall performance of the shipping/warehouse team, provide visibility to system gaps and challenges, and be able to drive improvements.
Areas of Accountabilities
Ensure safety culture within warehouse and shipping team members
- Create and maintain a culture of safety where each employee takes ownership of their and their team member’s safety.
- Develop and drive an effective Leading Indicator Program for Shipping/Warehouse team members and their activities.
- Ensure compliance with forklift safety procedures and conduct audits
Manage and advance the Shipping/Warehousing Management System.
- Conduct a comprehensive review and gap analysis to understand the current processes and opportunities to improve.
- Develop clear and easy to follow processes that drive consistency.
- Develop the needed alignment and accountability links within shipping/warehousing and other cross-functional teams.
- Successfully manage ERP implementation tasks and process changes.
- Audit shipping/warehouse related work and core processes for adherence and improvement purposes
Promote quality awareness with the Shipping/Warehouse team as the last line of defense to identify finished goods that might not be in compliance with customer expectations.
- Support the Quality Manager on internal & external quality issues derived from the Shipping/Warehouse team.
- Respond to assigned issues and ensure that root cause is determined, and corrective actions are implemented to drive desired results.
Lead and develop the shipping/warehouse team according to Rehrig’s core values
- Ensure growth plan exists for each team member to advance their skills and our ability to better service our customers.
- Administer quarterly and annual Key Accountability reviews with each team member.
- Conduct thorough annual Performance Evaluations & Appraisals (PEAs) for each team member to assess capabilities and drive growth and/or change.
- Review and maintain staffing levels required to meet daily activity
- Provide concise reporting to management on shipping/warehousing performance, issues and actions
Manage physical inventory counts
- Ensure warehouses are organized and prepared to facilitate month end physical inventory counts.
- Manage the efficient and expedited requests for inventory counts throughout the month as needed by production or the production planning team.
- Implement and manage the effective execution of packaging related Kanbans
Manage the following assigned general ledger accounts to the established budget on a monthly basis:

- Warehousing, Packaging, Forklift (rental, repair & propane), Pallets, Waste Disposal
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or General Management
- Preferred: 5+ years of Logistics Management Experience.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Proficient using MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). JD Edwards (ERP) software a plus.
- Ability to manage 16-18 team members working in a 24/7 operation.
- Proven ability to develop and implement processes from the ground up.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and multiple facilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and departments.
